Homeless Ukrainian families were given two days’ notice to leave their accommodation after the Home Office decided that the hotel would be used to house asylum seekers from the overcrowded Manston site.

The three-star Allerton Court Hotel, which has 44 ensuite rooms, will accommodate Channel migrants during the winter as part of emergency plans to ease pressure on the processing centre in Kent.

The hotel in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, is less than four miles from the prime minister’s home in his constituency of Richmond.
